Curriculum

The Curriculum

At Key Stage 3 students can study English, Maths, Science, ICT, Humanities (Geography, History and Religious Education) and PSHE (Physical social and Moral Education) in mainstream lessons in Fairfield or with specialist teachers of the deaf in Elmfield School. They have the option of studying British Sign Language, Design Technology, Drama, Dance, Physical Education and Music alongside their hearing peers in Fairfield.

At Key Stage 4 students usually take between 8 and 9 GCSEs or GCSE equivalent courses at the end of Year 11 although we also provide “tailor made” options for individual students as appropriate. Options that are available at key stage 4 are: Core subjects: English Maths, Science and ICT.

Options choices available: British Sign Language, History, Geography, Life Skills through ASDAN, Dance, Computer Science, Photography, Textiles, Art, Film Studies, PE, Music, Engineering , Food Technology, Health and Social Care, Sociology, Law and Drama.
