Elmfield School for Deaf Children provides a Sign Bilingual Curriculum that allows children to 'Connect, Belong and Succeed.'

We believe children fulfil their linguistic potential through exposure to a language rich environment. We have a welcoming and inclusive school community that values all of its members. We engage the deaf and hearing communities to collaborate and enrich the lives of our students. Deaf adults are involved throughout the school community, including our governing body. Deaf children have the right to become confident, curious, reflective and creative learners. Our students should leave school as resilient, kind and independent young people prepared to lead a successful role in society.

We aim to:

• Provide a language rich environment that promotes excellent language development in both English and British Sign Language
• Deliver a stimulating, varied, spiral curriculum that provides individualised pathways for a range of learners
• Develop a positive deaf identity and self-esteem
• Prepare children for the next stage of life
• Provide equal access and inclusivity for all curriculum areas​
