We enjoy welcoming new staff to join our school teams on both the Primary and Secondary sites and offer an induction programme to our new starters.  We also offer new staff the opportunity to learn and improve their BSL skills.

In-House Interpreter

Elmfield Primary (BS7 0PU) and Secondary (BS7 9NL)

Various days / hours available

ASAP-31/08/24 (with the possibility of extending)

Bristol Grade 10, 22-26 £33,024-£36,648 pro rata

Term time only + 5 INSET days

We are looking for experienced BSL Interpreters to support Deaf and hard of hearing colleagues in school. The successful candidates will work with staff to enable an accessible working environment. The funding for this role is dependent on funding from Access to Work.

The applicant should have:

  • Proven ability to interpret BSL/English and English/BSL
  • The ability to work flexibly and to use own initiative
  • The ability to travel between sites (BS7 0PU and BS7 9NL)
  • High expectations
  • Good spoken English skills
  • Excellent organisational skills

As a minimum candidates will have completed NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) and will be registered as an RSLI or TSLI.

A minimum of A-C GCSE English is required.

Supply Teachers

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Teachers to join our bank of supply teachers. Experience of working with Deaf or hard of hearing children is desirable, but not essential.

A knowledge of British Sign Language is advantageous, but not essential as we can provide interpreters.
